Our HIPAA Status
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) establishes privacy and security standards for certain types of organizations — specifically health plans, healthcare clearinghouses, and healthcare providers that conduct covered electronic transactions.
Knock ID, LLC is not classified as a "covered entity" under HIPAA. As a result, the medical information you choose to store on our platform is not directly regulated by HIPAA's privacy rules. We believe it's important to be upfront about this distinction rather than imply protections we are not legally bound to provide.
How We Protect Your Data
Not being a HIPAA-covered entity does not diminish our commitment to keeping your information safe. We treat the health data on our platform with the same seriousness we would expect from any medical service. Our practices include:
- Encryption of data in transit and at rest
- Access controls limiting who can view your stored information
- Secure account authentication
- Industry-standard security infrastructure
- Regular review of our data handling practices
Your Control Over Your Information
You decide what medical information you store in your Knock ID profile and who can access it. You can update, edit, or delete your information at any time through your account settings. We do not share your medical profile data with third parties except as described in our Privacy Policy.
Questions
If you have questions about how we handle your data, please review our Privacy Policy or contact us directly.
